We’re dedicated to setting new standards and moving beyond traditional methods to provide exceptional, person-centred care.
Our award-winning directors, Anish and Samir Patel, are pioneers in integrating innovative technology into care to enhance resident well-being, while reducing the team’s administrative workload. This approach ensures our staff can spend more quality time with residents – a benefit highly valued by both residents and their families.
From night-time monitoring systems to medication management and person-centred care software, the tools introduced by Anish and Samir have significantly improved our care practices. Their forward-thinking approach earned us the national Stars of Social Care award for Technology and Innovation, and they continue to help other care homes across the UK achieve the same level of excellence.
Explore the innovative solutions below adopted by Oaklands:
Ally Acoustic Night-Time Monitoring System
Traditionally, night-time monitoring in care homes involves staff physically checking each room, which can disrupt sleep and increase fall risk. Ally Acoustic acts like a pair of eyes and ears in the room, providing a non-intrusive way to observe residents while respecting their privacy and dignity. Ally uses AI technology to learn the usual sounds and activities in a room and alerts carers to any unusual activity, such as someone getting out of bed. This helps prevent falls and even helped Oaklands detect a potential COVID case through abnormal coughing patterns, successfully preventing the virus’s spread in our home.
Medication Management System
To ensure that we deliver the right medication at the right time, we use eMAR, an electronic medication management system. This system reduces the risk of medication errors, allows our team to accurately record each administration, and provides alerts if any doses are missed.
Mobile Care Monitoring
Mobile Care Monitoring by Person Centred Software replaces handwritten notes, enabling our care team to instantly record and access detailed resident information, such as preferences and needs, directly on mobile devices. This technology supports the development of truly person-centred care plans, while also reducing administrative tasks and freeing up more time for our team to engage directly with residents.
By implementing these innovative solutions, we streamline operations and allow our staff to concentrate on meaningful interactions with residents. Care managers benefit from comprehensive and accurate data, enabling them to make informed, data-driven decisions. This approach not only elevates the quality of care but also offers families peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are receiving exceptional, person-centred care.
Maintenance Tracking
In a care home, ensuring a well-maintained environment is crucial for both smooth operations and the well-being of residents. Our maintenance tracking system is designed to manage and monitor every maintenance request – from fixing a faulty handle to replacing a blown light bulb.
The system helps our team prioritise and track tasks efficiently, balancing larger redecoration projects with daily maintenance needs. It also ensures that important annual inspections and certifications are completed on schedule. Our management team can monitor job durations and identify any trends that may require further investigation, ensuring that the home remains in excellent condition and that residents benefit from a well-maintained environment.
PainChek
Many of our residents, especially those living with dementia, struggle to communicate their pain. To make sure no pain goes undetected or untreated, we’ve adopted state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, PainChek, the only intelligent pain assessment tool used worldwide.
PainChek uses AI-driven facial analysis to identify involuntary micro-facial expressions that indicate pain, as well as non-facial pain indicators such as vocalizations, movements, and behaviours. This technology allows care home staff to monitor pain levels frequently and in real-time.
With assessments completed in under two minutes, from a distance of up to three metres, your loved one is treated quickly with dignity, compassion and respect, while carers can spend meaningful time with residents. GPs can easily assess pain scores, providing full peace of mind.
