Welcome Our New Lifestyle Coordinator
Posted on 2 February 2026
We are pleased to welcome Katie to Oaklands as our new Lifestyle Coordinator. Katie has settled into her role well and has already begun building positive relationships with our residents.
Katie has shared that what she enjoys most about working at Oaklands is getting to know residents as individuals and forming meaningful connections with them. She values how small, thoughtful activities can have a positive impact on residents’ mood, confidence and overall wellbeing. Even on more challenging days, a shared smile, laugh or moment of connection can make a real difference.
Since joining the team, Katie has experienced many rewarding moments. One that stands out for her was seeing a resident who is usually quite withdrawn become more engaged, smiling and interacting during an activity. Moments like these highlight the importance of meaningful engagement and the positive effect activities can have on residents’ daily lives.
Katie believes that activities are a vital part of life in a care home. They support residents’ emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing and help maintain a sense of identity, purpose and routine. This is particularly important for residents living with dementia. Activities also encourage social interaction, reduce feelings of isolation and provide opportunities for enjoyment, inclusion and achievement, all of which contribute to a better quality of life.
We are delighted to have Katie as part of the Oaklands team and look forward to the positive contribution she will continue to make to the lives of our residents.
