Walking for Wellbeing: Oaklands’ Successful Walking Club

Posted on 6 May 2024

Since its launch last year, our inclusive walking club for residents of all abilities at Oaklands has become incredibly popular. It’s now one of our most beloved activities.

Getting outdoors for a walk in the nearby area is wonderful, and our residents reap the rewards of daily exercise, fresh air, and a variety of sensory experiences. There’s something enjoyable for everyone to experience.

The benefits of regular walking are well-documented, from improved physical fitness to enhanced mental wellbeing. Plus, it’s great to be able to spend quality time together outdoors.

Commenting on the walking club, Care Home Manager, Nicola Ray, said; “We’re delighted that we introduced a walking club at Oaklands. It’s fantastic to see residents of all abilities getting involved and loving every minute of it. It’s a great addition to our varied activities calendar!”

Residents have enjoyed meeting neighbours, dog walkers and friends along the way. We are delighted that residents’ families really like joining us too. It’s great to be able to bring our community together.

We can’t wait to go for our next walk!
