Betty’s Century of Joy: A 100th Birthday Celebration!

A few weeks ago, we gathered to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone: Betty’s 100th birthday! Surrounded by her loving family, including Chris, Ian, Katie, Mitch, Matt, Max, Sarah, Gaynor, Mark, Fiona, and Val, as well as the wonderful Oaklands team, Betty was radiating happiness. And of course, no celebration for Betty would be complete without her favourite cuddly companion, Harry the Hamster, always a warm and firm feature in her life!

The celebration was in full swing with a gorgeous buffet, and not one, but two delightful cakes! One was a rich chocolate sponge, and the other a classic vanilla sponge, both adorned with exquisite floral decorations.

Betty’s 100 years have been filled with incredible experiences and achievements. As a licensed victualler, she proudly owned three pubs, bringing joy and community to many. Before her pub adventures, she dedicated her time to a dairy, where she honed her skills in serving and administration.

At the age of 60, Betty embraced a well-deserved retirement, embarking on wonderful holidays and enjoying the company of her loving family and beloved animals. Today, we honour a life lived to the fullest, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
