Sheila – Head Cook

Sheila came to Oaklands in October 2022, joining the team as Second Cook, before becoming Head Cook in July 2023. During this time, Sheila was part of the kitchen team involved in the complete refurb of the kitchen. This involved working in a pod in the car park, producing Christmas Dinner for 30 plus residents, staff and family.

Cooking for large numbers has always played a part in Sheila’s life. For 15 years before joining Oaklands, Sheila was a cook in a school. Cooking has always been a passion for her, starting her career waiting in cafes whilst at college, then progressing to cooking when she was 21. This skill of cooking for large numbers and being organised in large settings has been well tested since being a Brown Owl in 1st Fawley Brownies. Sheila was honoured with her 30 year pin early this year.

When not busy at work and Guides, Sheila loves spending time with her grandchildren, passing on her love of cooking and baking. Alongside this, she loves to sew and dog-sit for her friends when they take holidays.
