Residents crown our Waterside Community ChampionPosted on 7 December 2020
We’re delighted to announce that our residents have crowned the Waterside Self-Isolation Support Group their Waterside Community Champion.
Set up by a group of local volunteers (Donna Osman, David Morris, Julie Game, Sue Ingram, Justine Harnett, Michael Osman and Katherine Pinckney) the Waterside Self-Isolation Support Group has been a vital lifeline for the community during the pandemic. Not only have they collected shopping and prescriptions, but they have also hosted online quizzes which have raised thousands of pounds for several local charities.
Commenting on the award winners, Oaklands Rest Home, said; “Thank you to everyone who nominated their colleagues, friends and loved ones for this award. It is lovely to see communities come together in such positive ways. The Waterside Self-Isolation Support Group have been amazing during lockdown, and they continue to keep the community connected at a time when support, friendship and love has never been more important. Well done!”
Group volunteer Donna Osman commented; “Thank you for this lovely award. As a team, we were happy we could help those that needed it and still do along with a long list of volunteers that play a huge part”.
Group volunteer David Morris added “Thank you so much. It has been a privilege to help with people’s morale and wellbeing during such a difficult time. I have to say that the group of volunteers have been inspirational, and it was a joy to assist”.
