Oaklands residents head to RioPosted on 18 March 2022
Oaklands residents had a fantastic time celebrating Rio Carnival recently. It was lots of fun to join in with one of the world’s biggest carnivals, which sees 2 million people take to the streets in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil every year, to celebrate before fasting for Lent.
Our team at Oaklands did us proud by putting on an inspiring themed party and decorating the home with brightly coloured decorations and props, including Brazilian flags.
The residents really got into the party spirit, wearing homemade colourful masks and fantastic feathered headdresses, before being treated to some delicious tropical food. The special dessert, which included fresh pineapple and kiwi fruits, went down very well!
Many of our residents have never been to Rio, so they loved watching last year’s carnival and getting a true taste of what it’s like.
The highlight of the party was definitely when our fantastic staff performed a Rio Carnival dance for the residents, as they moved energetically around the home, wearing beautiful butterfly wings and feathered headdresses.
Registered Manager, Nicola, said; “The residents all thoroughly enjoyed heading to Rio for the day. We would like to thank our fantastic team for putting on such an amazing event. We have already got lots more fun and engaging events planned, so we can’t wait for the residents to experience the next one!”
