Last month, some of the residents had the pleasure of attending an arts session with children at the local nursery – Little Gardners in Marchwood, Hampshire.
The arts session made for a brilliant, fun-filled morning, in which generations were united to create their own masterpieces in celebration of this year’s National Care Home Day theme of ‘Arts in Care’.
From floral photo frames to starry paintings – there was an amazing array of art created by the residents and children, and we were delighted with the final display at our Open Day ‘What’s special to me’ art exhibition!
Commenting on the success of the arts morning, Little Gardners Nursery Director, Claire Joyce, said; “This was a new event for Little Gardners so we weren’t sure what to expect, but the time spent with the residents of Oaklands Rest Home and their wonderful team was a really positive experience. The event gave our children a truly unique learning opportunity and we hope the residents enjoyed it too. We would love to make this a regular occurrence in our diary!”
We’re very much looking forward to hosting more arts session with Little Gardners in the future, and if you’d like to see all the photos from the morning, you can check them out on our Facebook page here.
