On Sunday 4th August, our Head Chef, Dave, set off to the capital to take part in Prudential RideLondon 100 – a fantastic cycling festival launched in 2012 to raise money for charities, while also encouraging amateur cyclists to complete the famous 100-mile route.
Cycling in aid of Tommy’s – a charity funding research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth – Dave began the race at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, seeing highlights including Hampton Court Palace and Box Hill along the way, before completing the 100-mile route at The Mall in central London.
Dave, who had been training tirelessly for several months before the event, was ecstatic to complete the race on Sunday afternoon, stating: “The ride was totally worth the aches and pains to help a charity that is close to my heart; no parent should face the heartache of losing a child. I’m really proud to have been able to do my bit to help”.
Everyone at Oaklands is immensely proud of Dave, and if you’d like to show your support by donating to Tommy’s, you can do so here. Any donation is greatly appreciated and if you’d like to learn more about the charity, take a look at their page here.
