Oaklands Finalists in Two Dementia Care Award Categories

Posted on 18 June 2025

We’re excited to announce that Oaklands has been shortlisted as a finalist in two fantastic categories at this year’s Dementia Care Awards: Intergenerational Activity and Assistive Technology for People Living with Dementia.

Our entry for the Intergenerational Activity Award highlights the success of our regular visits from a local toddler group. These joyful, structured sessions—filled with play, music, and shared stories—are thoughtfully integrated into dementia care plans. They’ve had a meaningful impact on residents’ wellbeing, memory, and mood, while also creating lasting emotional connections with the children.

In the Assistive Technology category, we’ve been recognised for our pioneering use of tools such as AI pain monitoring, night-time acoustic sensors, digital care plans, and NHS data sharing. By embedding assistive technology into day-to-day care, we’re enhancing safety, personalisation, and quality of life for people living with dementia, while empowering our care team.

It’s an honour to be recognised in both areas. These are nationally recognised awards that celebrate excellence in dementia care across the UK. Winners will be confirmed this week—fingers crossed!
