Making Memories – What our residents got up to in MarchPosted on 7 April 2022
We’ve had lots to celebrate at Oaklands during March, including Mother’s Day and our lovely resident Pat’s birthday – everyone has had a fantastic time!
With so much going on, we’ve put together some of our recent care activities and residents’ highlights, so you can see what they’ve been up to lately.
There’s never a dull moment at Oaklands, our highly skilled Lifestyle Co-ordinator, Mandy, has led some superb activities, including our popular chair exercises, plenty of games, singalongs and the chance to play some musical instruments. Our residents have also enjoyed being busy looking at their favourite memories and putting photos in their memory boxes.
Our residents were treated to a well-deserved Mother’s Day celebration with a delicious cream tea, consisting of scones, jam and cream. The staff decorated the home beautifully with banners and handcrafted paper flowers.
A special thank you goes to our wonderful chef’s, Dave and Katy, who provided the delicious treat!
St Patrick’s Day
On 17th March, St Patrick’s Day, we transformed the home with various shades of green to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland. To mark the occasion, the residents wore special St Patrick’s Day hats and loved seeing the leprechauns and shamrocks that decorated the walls. The residents then sat down at themed tables, to enjoy a delicious special meal.
National Hydration Week
Hydration of the skin, muscles and joints is very important to boost well-being and increase mobility. As part of National Hydration Week, our residents got to experience all the benefits and enjoy delicious healthy fruit smoothies at our Smoothie Bar.
Red Nose Day
Our residents enjoyed celebrating Red Nose Day on 18th March and exchanging memories of previous Red Nose Days. We all wore red noses, completed a themed word search, and enjoyed plenty of colouring.
Registered Manager, Nicola said: “We’ve had a fantastic time with the residents this month; please join us in wishing Pat a very Happy Birthday next time you see her, as well as stop to admire Brenda’s very impressive scarf! She’s been knitting it for 2 years and it has now reached over 3 metres in length! We’re so lucky to have such talented residents at Oaklands!”
