Houston – Head Housekeeper

Houston started at Oaklands as an NVQ care student in April 2014, completing his qualification and becoming a care assistant, before going on to become a leading night shift carer. In 2018, Houston had a change of career and became part of Oaklands’ valued housekeeping team.

Progressing to Head Housekeeper in 2020, Houston strives to make sure that the private space of a resident’s room is left looking clean, lived in, and cared for. This year, Houston will receive his 10-year-long service badge.

Previous to a career in care, Houston was a hairdresser and has modelled some of his more ‘adventurous’ looks over the last 10 years. Outside of work, Houston is very family-orientated, married to Stephen and living with the other love of his life, his dog, King Louis, the spoilt Chihuahua/Jack Russell cross. A close second is Marni the cat, who tolerates Louis. Houston loves binge-watching new series on TV, spending time with his best friends and their family, and taking long walks – although these are getting less frequent since he passed his driving test! Houston also has a passion for exploring cities across Europe, with Venice being his favourite.
