“Every day is a school day” is a mantra that is truly believed by our Senior Carer, Mia Williams.
Mia joined the Oaklands team with no care experience or care qualifications.
However, Mia possessed many transferable skills, alongside demonstrating the core values that we live by at Oaklands.
With a love for learning, Mia has studied and completed many care certificates, including her L2 and L3 Diplomas in Adult Social Care and is close to finishing her L4.
Mia’s determination and completion of her qualifications have assisted her in climbing the care ladder, progressing from a Care Assistant to a Team Leader and is now a Senior Carer – responsible for the running of shifts and ensuring residents are cared for with dignity and respect in line with their personal care plans.
Mia is also our ‘Medication Lead’, where she liaises with the local GP and pharmacy for all medication needs, including ordering, storage, administration and returning medication.
Speaking of her accomplishments, Mia said: “I love learning and I am very proud of my achievements. The knowledge I have gained has helped make me the carer that I am today, enabling me to consistently give the best care I can with respect, integrity, openness and honesty.”
In recognition of this learning, Mia has been awarded ‘Learner of The Year’ for the past 3 years at the Oaklands awards, an accolade we are all very proud of. Well done, Mia!
At Oaklands, we are passionate about providing the best care possible for our residents. That’s why we offer our team learning and development opportunities to ensure they remain at the forefront of their training, enabling them to provide the best care for our service users.
