Posted on 21 November 2025
We are thrilled to share that Mia, Deputy Manager at Oaklands, has won The Care Assessor/Care Planner Award at the Regional Great British Care Awards, held on Friday 14th November at the Hilton Metropole, Brighton. This award recognises exceptional commitment to creating person-centred care plans that reflect both the clinical needs and personal identities of residents.
Mia oversees each resident’s care plan from the initial assessment through to regular reviews and audits, ensuring that care remains accurate, consistent and responsive to changing needs. Her approach combines professional expertise with a genuine understanding of what makes each resident unique. She gathers information from residents, families, healthcare professionals and the CHiE system to create a comprehensive, personalised plan for every individual. This collaborative method ensures each plan is thorough while truly centred on the resident.
Her expertise and dedication have been widely recognised. Social workers, GPs and other professionals have praised her work, with several homes inviting Mia to share her approach following such positive feedback. Through her careful planning, residents benefit from care that supports their health, wellbeing, dignity and identity.
Mia also goes beyond documentation to strengthen connections with families. By sharing daily ‘care stories’ and updates, she provides reassurance to relatives who cannot visit regularly, helping them feel engaged in their loved one’s care journey. This communication builds trust and creates a supportive link between Oaklands, residents and their families.
Within the wider team, Mia ensures that care plans are clearly understood and consistently followed. Her guidance maintains continuity and smooth delivery of care, combining accuracy with compassion. This attention to detail and communication ensures that residents experience care that is reliable, personalised and meaningful every day.
Reflecting on her award, Mia said:
“I take pride in creating person-centred care plans that truly reflect each resident’s individuality. By working closely with families, professionals, and our team, I ensure care remains accurate and responsive. I love sharing updates with relatives and seeing how thoughtful planning makes a real difference to daily life. Winning The Care Assessor/Care Planner Award at the Regional Great British Care Awards means so much to me. I feel incredibly proud and honoured to be recognised for something I care so deeply about.”
We are extremely proud of Mia and the outstanding contribution she makes to Oaklands. Her award recognises not only her professionalism and expertise but also the positive impact she has on residents, families, and colleagues every day.
Congratulations Mia, a truly well-deserved recognition!
