A Lovely Visit from the Brownies
Posted on 8 January 2026
At the start of December, we had a special visit here at Oaklands when a local Brownies group came to sing Christmas carols for our residents. Brownies are part of Girlguiding and enjoy learning new skills while supporting their local community, and their visit was very much appreciated.
The Brownies spent time singing carols in our lounge areas and visited residents in their rooms so everyone could enjoy the music. Many residents joined in with the singing, clapping along and smiling as familiar songs were sung. The carols brought back lots of memories, and for some residents it was a very emotional moment that even brought a few happy tears.
After the singing, the Brownies stayed to chat with residents, sharing drinks, chocolate and spending some time together, which everyone really enjoyed. It was lovely to see the interaction between different generations and how much joy such a simple visit can bring.
We would like to say a big thank you to the Brownies for taking the time to visit Oaklands and share such a special evening with our residents. It was a visit that was truly appreciated by everyone.
